Driving while under the influence of illicit drugs or the misuse of prescription drugs is just as unsafe as driving under the influence of alcohol. In 2014, more than 10 million people admitted to driving under the influence of drugs in the prior year. Marijuana is most often linked to DUI accidents after alcohol.  In 2010, one-quarter of fatal crashes due to driving under the influence of drugs were attributed to drivers 50 years of age or older. Therefore, this issue affects drivers of all ages.
