Orange County, California is the site of many great festivals and events, some of which have been around for quite some time. Here are some interesting moments you won’t want to miss.
Palm Springs International Film Festival
Hosted in January at locations in and around Palm Springs, this film festival sets the stage for the Academy Awards later in the year. The emphasis is on world cinema and foreign language films.
Asian American Expo
This is the largest Asian American Expo in the country, and will host over a thousand vendors. It originated in 1982, and has eight performance venues and three food courts. It is held mid-January in Pomona.
Surf City Marathon
In Downtown Huntington Beach, this race is held in early February. It consists of a wheelchair race, a marathon, and a half marathon. More than a thousand runners and their fans will be in attendance.
Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival
This event has been a blast for 72 years! Held in mid-February, it was originally held to celebrate the date harvest, but has evolved into a fun, carnival event. Check out the ostrich and camel races. Fun for everyone!
Dana Point Festival of Whales
Held in early to mid-March, this event helps visitors take advantage of great views of whales that pass by Dana Point this time of year. Take a whale watching excursion. While you’re at the festival, be sure to catch the car show, and boat shows. Become part of history as Dana Point celebrates 47 years of this event.
Get your groove on as March draws to a close! This festival features more than 60 electronic music acts, and dancing is everywhere. This annual festival is held at the NOS Event Center, and draws approximately 70,000 fans each year.
Renaissance Pleasure Faire
On the weekends in April and May, twenty acres are transformed into a medieval fantasy world. Wear your period costumes and take in some jousting. The pub crawl is a popular event. Enjoy shopping in the market place and tasting all the Ren Faire food!
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
One of the nation’s most talked about music festivals, Coachella takes place over two weekends in April. It always features top musical acts of today and has a huge attendance. Buy your tickets early if you don’t want to miss out.
California Strawberry Festival

Orange County Fair
For 127 years, the Orange County Fair has been delighting visitors. It is the ninth largest fair in the country, and there are all kinds of stuff to do there. It might take more than one day! From mid-July to mid-August, come see the exhibits, ride the rides, and enjoy the shows!
Vans US Open of Surfing
In addition to surfing, check out the competitions in skate boarding and BMX. There is lots to see at this event…you won’t want to miss it!
